The Candy Caterpillar's Christmas Adventure
A magical story told by Mila about a sweet caterpillar's journey to find Santa, candy canes, and friendship
The Journey Begins
Mila: Candy Caterpillar went to the city to get some... ice cream... some ice cream.
Dad: Candy Caterpillar?
The Trip to Santa's Place
Mila: When the Candy Caterpillar went to the snowy place where Santa lives, he didn't see Santa. He went to presents... he went back to his own city. He went to get some money so he pay to Santa and he got a... lot of presents. And one thing he was missing.
Dad: What did he get?
The Missing Candy Cane
Mila: He was missing something for his... for when it was Santa. He was missing a... candy cane and he went back to... to... uh... Santa and he said "Do you have any candy canes?" and he said "Yeah, of course. Let me come show you."
Dad: How many did he get?
Mila: He get all of them.
Dad: All of them? But too many... he couldn't carry them home. He was a caterpillar. How was he gonna take all the candy canes?
One Candy Cane Each Day

The Plan
Mila: No, he ate one by one in one day each.

Getting Bigger
Dad: One day each? Then the candy caterpillar got bigger... bigger... bigger and he was full of candy... and he was the candy caterpillar full of candy.

Mom's Permission
Mila: No his mom told him that he could have a candy cane.
Dad: Really? But one every day?
Mila: Uh-huh.
Dad: Then the caterpillar got very big?
Santa's Trick
Mila: No he did not... he got... he was the... Santa was tricking him that actually they were actually ones that make him be small like a little baby.
Dad: Oh, they were special candy caterpill... candies.

The Magic Candy Canes
Mila: Yeah but then he got little and little and little and he disappeared.
Dad: He disappeared? And then how did he come back?
Mila: I don't know maybe... maybe...
Dad: He ate another candy that made him big?
Mila: No maybe maybe... no maybe Santa is a robber.
The Helpful Ant
Dad: A rob-- You see? You turn into a robber Santa. That's not gonna work, okay? Santa is not gonna rob anybody. Okay? So candy caterpillar was small tiny tiny tiny and he met a little ant. What did the ant tell the candy caterpillar? To get big, he had to do what?
Mila: No, look, look, the ant said "If you just see a little lightbulb inside my house... there's gonna be a little candy up in the ceiling of my house... and then you're gonna see a candy that makes you grow as big as you were."
Dad: Really? And he found it?
Mila: Yeah.
Growing Back to Size
Finding the Candy
The caterpillar found the special candy on the ceiling
Growing Big
He ate it and grew back to his normal size
Could Be Bigger
If he ate the whole thing, he'd be as big as a dragon
Dad: And he turned super big.
Mila: No, not super big, like big he was.
Dad: Oh like he was.
Mila: Yeah but...
Dad: I see but if he took the whole thing he would have been as big as a dog.
Mila: No he'll be as big as a dinosaur... I mean not as big as a dinosaur as big as a...
Dad: Snake?
Mila: Dragon.
Dad: Dragon? Then that would be a huge caterpillar. Full of candy in his stomach.
Mila: No actually he's gonna be as big as a little dinosaur.
Meeting the Marshmallow Girl
Dad: No way. You know what the candy caterpillar saw after that? He saw a little girl. And she looked like a snowman. But she was not a snowman. She was a marshmallow girl. And she was all squishy. And she was outside in the snow. And the candy caterpillar thought "Oh, I like marshmallows I'm gonna go see what's going on there with that little girl." And he crawled on top of the leg...
Mila: [Giggles] ...Inviting her?
Dad: And then it went all to the stomach... he saw all these marshmallows... [Tickling noises] And he finally made it to the neck. [Tickling/Laughing] And what happened? When you saw the candy caterpillar in your neck... what did you say to him? Beside screaming, what else did you tell him?
Not a Marshmallow!
Mila: I... I said "I'm not a marshmallow, I'm a... I'm a person that is all full of bones."
Dad: And you love to eat candy. And the candy caterpillar got scared. Because he thought you were gonna eat him.
Mila: I was not gonna eat him.
Dad: No? But he looked like a gummy bear.
Mila: He's a... he's a friend of mine.
Dad: Oh no way.
School with the Candy Caterpillar
Mila: He comes in my school when I do a little school at my house... with those dolls... he comes at my school.
Dad: Oh he does?
Mila: And I'm the teacher.
Dad: You're the teacher of the candy caterpillar. You're the marshmallow teacher. Okay. So...
Mila: Not the marshmallow teacher, I'm just a teacher that gives them candy.
Christmas Gifts
Dad: What did you give as a gift for Christmas for the candy caterpillar? What was his present?
A Flower
And some candy
A Palm Tree
For his home
A Lion Friend
That comes to school too
Mila: Uh... A flower and some candy.
Dad: Flowers and candy. What kind of candy?
Mila: And uh... to... a... uh... some of those animals and... he had a palm tree... that I give him.
Dad: Did you give him a gummy bear?
Mila: Mm yeah that was for a candy. And guess what... I give him even a... lion... but... that a lion that is his friend.
Dad: His friend?
Mila: That comes all to my school.
Goodbye, Candy Caterpillar!
Dad: Okay. So then you told him Merry Christmas right? You said Merry Christmas candy caterpillar! And then he started going down... into your belly... he went down your foot... [Tickling sounds] and then he said "Goodbye Mila! I love you! See you soon!" [Laughter]
